About Ambient
The
Ambient Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit
organization* based in the Washington, DC Metropolitan
Area. We are dedicated to providing Cleantech energy
solutions for sustainable development and capacity building
throughout the world.
The Ambient team has expertise in the areas of education, manufacturing,
advanced robotics, and automation. Our approach will combine all
the conventional methods of production. This includes
professional design, testing, quality control, and customer
support. Our projects are integrated with PERT management programs and
supported by risk analysis reviews.
Ambient's Mission
The Ambient Foundation is dedicated to providing and promoting
sustainable energy solutions through clean technology or
"Cleantech." Through the development and promotion of these
solutions, we are supporting a future that is cleaner, more
energy and resource efficient, secure, and prosperous. Our
mission includes: 1. Sustainable development and capacity
building, powered by a steady supply of clean energy; 2. The
adoption of Cleantech energy technology via sales and licensing
agreements and an advisory Think Tank; 3. Educational
initiatives to communicate the uses and advantages of Cleantech.
Our Logo: Inspired by Nature
Our logo represents a firefly. The firefly generates its own
light in the form of bioluminescence. When the sun sets, one may see pulses of
light as fireflies
illuminate the outdoors. This
insight led us to develop technologies
that would generate sources of energy to produce light (among other things) on a global scale.
Licensing Philosophy &
Certification
We believe that the best way to make technology
available to the public, in the shortest timeframe possible, is
through modified
open-source licensing (modified GPL or General Public License). As a non-profit, The Ambient Foundation is
positioned to be the central source for our technologies. In
addition to internal developments, we serve as a hub for people with similar technologies,
who may seek assistance,
research funding, and integration into our Ambient Technology
Family.
Third-parties who wish to reproduce our non-Firefly-based technologies will be able to
do so via our modified GPL program. These licenses ensure
that our technology will be reproduced safely and held to high standards of quality. Once a third-party receives Ambient
Foundation Certification (see our logo to the left), they are then licensed to reproduce
